IBAS History
1999: The International Business Academy of Switzerland (also called IBAS) originated in 1999, when our sister school in Denmark was initially established.
2000–2010: The Danish school established itself internationally, with offices in Denmark, Egypt, and Vietnam.
2013: IBAS was established in 2013, initially in the Canton of Zug, Switzerland.
2015: IBAS started programs in the Canton of Vaud, together with Language Center partners.
2016: IBAS initiated the process of applying for EduQua and ISO certifications. IBAS also launched its first DBA programme, primarily focused on collaboration with Malaysian partners, whereby students study part of the programme in Switzerland and part in Malaysia.
2017: IBAS successfully achieved both EduQua and ISO certifications.
2018: IBAS opened the Zurich campus, teaching full-time students in BBA, MBA, and DBA programs. IBAS established the MBA in Hospitality Management program and purchased a small guesthouse for student and guest accommodation.
2019: IBAS moved from Horgen to a new campus in Thalwil with improved facilities.
2020: Like many other schools, IBAS was forced to temporarily shift to online-only education due to COVID-19. IBAS developed an online learning management system, the “MGW Learning Platform,” to support students with online learning.
2022: IBAS achieved ACBSP accreditation for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programs. The QS Intelligence Unit rated the International Business Academy of Switzerland (IBAS) as a Five Stars institution.
2023: IBAS continued to offer online education – Study Any Place @ Any Time. IBAS achieved ISO 29993:2017 certification for learning services outside formal education.
2024: IBAS was listed again in the Swiss Private School Register and achieved ISASAHE Premier Accreditation for both the institution and its study programs.
2025: IBAS achieved EduQua certification again and welcomed on-site students to Campus Zurich.
